Save or Validate is blocked, or the order is read-only

  • Utilisateur

You cannot save or validate an order, or the validation screen is read-only. Search the headings below for the message or symptom you see, and follow its fix.

Only one person edits an inquiry at a time. The reason is in What happens when you and a colleague open the same order.

Validate is disabled: "Resolve all errors to validate"

When you point to Validate, the tooltip reads "Resolve all errors to validate" followed by the number of orders that are still blocked. For example: "Resolve all errors to validate — 2 orders still blocked".

Cause: At least one order of the inquiry has an error. Validate sends every order of the inquiry that still needs work at once. One order with an error therefore blocks all of them. Validating a split inquiry is covered in How a split inquiry works: one document, several orders. Warnings and info never block Validate.

Fix:

  1. Look at the order tabs. A count on a tab shows how many errors that order has.
  2. Press Ctrl ⇧ E (Ctrl Shift E on Windows), or click Show errors to resolve. Errors to resolve lists every error.
  3. If an order must not go to your ERP at all, delete it instead of fixing it.

Clearing the errors is part of Validate an order: check it and send it to your ERP. To delete an order, follow Handle a split inquiry: add orders, move lines, validate.

A field stays red after you filled it in

Cause: The most likely causes are these:

  • You typed in a picker but did not choose a record in the picker. Typing only searches. The field stays empty until you click a record.
  • The field depends on another field that is still empty. The picker then shows Make a selection first. The picker can also say to choose that other field first, because the picker shows only records that belong to that field.
  • The record you need is not in your reference data, so the picker cannot show it.
  • The error came from the check Hyperfox ran when you opened the inquiry, or from your last save. The error is on a field you did not change. Such an error stays until Hyperfox checks the order again.

Fix:

  1. Open the picker.
  2. Enter text to search the record.
  3. Click the record.
  4. If the picker needs another field first, fill in that field. Then open the picker again.
  5. If the record is not in the picker, add it. Follow Add a missing customer, address or item while validating.
  6. If the field shows the right value and is still red, click Save. Hyperfox checks every order again and removes the errors that are solved.

"Unit is not valid for this item"

Hyperfox shows this message in English in every language.

Cause: In a stock order, a line can use only a unit of its item. The same applies in order models where Hyperfox limits the unit to the units of the item. The unit on the line is not one of the item's units. This happens most often after you changed the item. The reason is on The unit check: why boxes can become pieces.

Fix:

  1. Click the unit cell of the line. The picker shows only the units of the line's item.
  2. Choose the unit that matches the document.

If the unit you need is not in the picker, the item does not have that unit in your reference data. Ask whoever maintains your reference data to add the unit.

"Save failed": "Fill in the required fields. The errors are shown at the fields."

Cause: A required field is empty on at least one order of the inquiry. Save checks every order before it stores anything. Save stores all orders of an inquiry together, or none of them. Hyperfox then saves nothing, not even your changes on the other orders. While a required field is still empty, you cannot save a half-finished order to continue later. Validate saves the orders first, so Validate shows the same message.

Fix:

  1. Click the order tab that shows an error count.
  2. Press Ctrl ⇧ E (Ctrl Shift E on Windows), or click Show errors to resolve.
  3. Click each entry. Hyperfox jumps to the field.
  4. Fill in every field that says it is required, for example "Customer is required". If the entry points to a line you do not need, follow An empty line blocks Validate.
  5. Click Save again.

If your team often cannot fill in a required field yet, ask support whether the field has to stay required. Who changes which setting is listed in What you can configure, and what Hyperfox configures.

An empty line blocks Validate

You click Validate or Save and Hyperfox shows "Save failed". Errors to resolve lists a line that holds nothing, for example "Line #4 · Item" with "Item is required".

Cause: The order has a line without an item, for example a line you added with Add line and left empty. Hyperfox checks every line the same way. An empty line therefore misses every field that your environment requires on a line. Hyperfox does not save or validate the inquiry until the line is filled or deleted.

Fix:

  1. Click the entry in Errors to resolve. Hyperfox jumps to the line.
  2. Check against the document that the line is not needed.
  3. On the line, click Row actions for line > Delete.
  4. Click Save. The entries of the line disappear. When no other error is left, Validate works again.

To avoid this, press ⌘ Z (Ctrl Z on Windows) right after you clicked Add line by mistake. Adding and deleting lines is part of Fix order lines: item, quantity and unit.

After you created a record, Save says the field is required

Cause: The form for a new record in that list has no field for the number or code that links the record to the order.

Fix: Follow After I created a record, Save says the field is required.

The screen is read-only: a colleague has the inquiry open

Since the release of 30 September 2026.

The bar at the bottom of the screen gives the name of your colleague followed by "has this inquiry open since" and a time. In To validate, Reject answers with the name of your colleague followed by "has this inquiry open. Try again once they close it."

Cause: Only one person at a time can edit an inquiry. Your colleague opened the inquiry first and holds the lock. The lock is described in What happens when you and a colleague open the same order.

Fix:

Take over discards every change your colleague did not save. This cannot be undone. To keep their changes, ask your colleague to save first.

  1. Ask your colleague to save and close the inquiry. When your colleague closes the inquiry, your screen becomes editable, with the orders as they saved them.
  2. If your colleague is away and the work cannot wait, click Take over in the bar. The screen reloads with what Hyperfox holds, including everything your colleague saved, and becomes editable.

"… took over at …. Your unsaved changes were not saved."

Since the release of 30 September 2026.

The bar gives the name of a colleague and a time.

Cause: A colleague clicked Take over. The same message also appears when nobody clicked it. That happens when your browser tab was in the background, or your computer slept, for more than a minute. Your lock then expired and a colleague's screen got the inquiry. When and why a lock ends is in What happens when you and a colleague open the same order.

Fix:

Take over discards every change your colleague did not save. This cannot be undone. To keep their changes, ask your colleague to save first.

  1. Talk to your colleague before you do anything else.
  2. When your colleague is done, or when you agreed to continue, click Take over.
  3. Redo the corrections that were not saved.

To avoid this, click Save before you leave an open inquiry unattended.

"This inquiry was reprocessed since you opened it."

Cause: Someone clicked Retry on the inquiry while you had it open, and Hyperfox read the inquiry again. Retry deletes every order of the inquiry, including the changes you saved, and replaces them with a new reading. Your unsaved changes belong to orders that no longer exist, so Hyperfox does not save them.

Fix:

  1. Click Reload. Hyperfox discards your unsaved changes and loads the new orders.
  2. Check the new orders against the document.
  3. Redo your corrections.

When the bar says "This inquiry is being processed again.", Hyperfox is still reading the inquiry. In that case, click Back to list. When the inquiry is back in To validate, open it again. When to use Retry is covered in Retry an order so Hyperfox reads it again from the start.

"This inquiry was already validated" or "This inquiry was rejected"

When Hyperfox has the name of the colleague, the bar shows it. For example: "This inquiry was already validated by" followed by a name.

Cause: A colleague validated or rejected the inquiry after you opened it, for example while your lock had expired. Hyperfox changes nothing. If you click Save or Validate before the bar appears, you see only "Save failed".

Fix: Click Back to list. The inquiry is now in Archive. To find out why it is there, follow The order is in Archive, not in To validate.

"This inquiry was already validated, rejected or sent back for processing. Refresh the list."

Cause: You clicked Reject in To validate, but someone acted on the inquiry after your list loaded.

Fix: To refresh To validate, click Updated or press R. Why the list can be out of date is on An order stays in Processing or never reaches To validate.

"Approve failed" or "Reject failed"

The message carries the title "Error". Instead of "Approve failed" or "Reject failed", it can show a message from the server in English.

Cause: Hyperfox did not accept the action or could not finish it. For example, the status of an order no longer allows the action, or the connection dropped.

Fix:

  1. Refresh the page in your browser.
  2. Check the order tabs.
  3. Click Validate or Reject again.
  4. If the action fails again, contact support.

Send support the details listed under Still wrong?.

"A new version is available"

Cause: Hyperfox released a new version of the app. Hyperfox checks for a new version every two minutes while the page is open.

Fix:

  1. If you have unsaved changes, click Save.
  2. Click Refresh now. The page reloads with the new version. If you have unsaved changes, your browser first asks whether you want to leave the page.

Later hides the message until the next version.
